In response to this, the Safe Crossings Foundation, which focuses on healing the hearts of grieving children by researching and funding leading-edge grief recovery programs in the Puget Sound, is offering a rare opportunity. The Northwest Conference on Childhood Grief is a chance for those who constantly giving support to get support and come together with like-minded individuals.
The conference is happening on Friday, February 24th, and is a one-day symposium that connects all types of people: parents of grieving children, counselors, hospital workers, and many more. The relevant topic for this year’s Northwest Conference on Childhood Grief is traumatic grief and its main three causes: natural disaster, suicide, and mass shootings.
This symposium is special to Art with Heart because we will be closing the day’s program (find the schedule here) with a moment of contemplation and reflection using a hands-on creative expression activity for traumatic loss and grief.
Art with Heart saw the devastating effects of traumatic grief firsthand when working with those affected by the Darrington Landslide and Sandy Hook shootings. We also saw firsthand the hope, transformation, and positive care provided by grief support professionals and their therapies. Art with Heart encourages sharing tools and supporting the well-being of everyone who is a part of a traumatic experience which includes both victims and their advocates.
