“When I’m in pain, I go through the book and it gets my mind off the pain and helps me relax and have fun. I put the pictures around my room to remind me that when I am sad, I can look at them and they take my mind off things. This is a good thing for other kids because it’s creative and gets you thinking and feeling better.” ~ 11 Yr. Old Surgical Patient, Children’s Hospital, Seattle

“After opening Oodles, I immediately saw how amazing it was and quickly donated all other activity books to the playroom… In the all too familiar sterility of a hospital room, the beautifully created images from Oodles created a beautiful escape from the reality of illness into one of imagination and future hopes and dreams. ~ Stephanie, mother of Patrick, 10-year-old leukemia patient

Oodles of Doodles is just what the title says it is; an excellent resource, filled with creative activities that can be utilized whenever a hospitalized child feels the need to be relieved of feelings of confinement, stimulated to be heroic or simply express their true feelings.” ~ Bernie Siegel, MD, Author

Oodles is an amazing book of activities that help the children express themselves and gives them a much needed sense of control.” ~ Joanne P., CCLS, Child Life Specialist, Seattle, WA

Book Highlights

The therapies behind each activity are not readily apparent to the children. We did this by hand-picking illustrators who have worked for children’s television, games, music, magazines, and books. The art invites them to enter with their full heart – knowing this was created especially for them. It helps inspire creative thought and lets the children know that whatever they write down or draw – it’s all good – because it comes from them. Below are just a few of the highlights from the book…
