AUTHORS
Jeanean Jacobs, MA, ATR-BC, CPAT, CPC received her Master of Arts in Art Therapy at the University of Louisville in 1999. She served on the board of directors of the Phoenix Institute in Kentucky and is a former board member of Art with Heart. Most recently, Jeanean served as the Director of the Independent Living program at the YMCA of Greater Seattle, helping foster care teens as they transition out of the system. She is professionally certified as a Registered Art Therapist, National Board Certified Art Therapist, Professional Coach, Juvenile Sexual Offender Counselor, Life Space Crisis Intervention Counselor, Safe Crisis Manager and Cultural Diversity Trainer. She is a member of the American Art Therapy Association. Jeanean now lives in Louisville, Kentucky where she works at Maryhurst on the Senior Leadership Team as the Treatment Foster Care and Independent Living Services Director.
Steffanie Lorig is an award-winning graphic designer, illustrator, speaker and author. She received a BFA in Visual Communication from Northern Arizona University. She founded nonprofit Art with Heart in 1996 while serving on the board of the Seattle chapter of the AIGA. After many years at Hornall Anderson Design Works, she left to pursue Art with Heart full time and now serves as their Executive Director. She is the visionary and co-author of Oodles of Doodles for Your Noodle, an activity book for seriously ill children, Home Run Fun, an activity book for young Seattle Mariner fans, and co-author of Chill & Spill. She and her husband co-wrote Such a Silly Baby (Chronicle Books, 2008). She also served on the board of directors for the 2005 Illustrator’s Conference (ICON4) and is a member of the Society for Arts in HealthCare. Her work has been recognized by Make-A-Wish Foundation, Lance Armstrong Foundation and the Starbright Foundation as well as Communication Arts, Applied Arts, HOW, StepInside Design, Ability, and Family Circle.
