Chill & Spill is a guided therapeutic journal designed to help youth in distress reduce the potentially damaging impact of stress. It helps bridge the gap between the overwhelming number of youth in need and the limited number of therapists available. The therapies behind Chill & Spill help reduce symptoms of trauma and build skills that improve youth’s coping abilities and decision-making. We also offer trainings and supportive curriculum that teach how to utilize this tool to its fullest ability.
First published in 2002, Oodles of Doodles is a therapeutic activity book that gives hospitalized children a meaningful way to express their fears and concerns. Hospitals throughout North America routinely utilize Oodles with children in their care. Available in both English and Spanish, the book has helped over 28,000 children find hope in the midst of health crises. The spirit, creativity, and commitment that define this important work is truly inspiring and continues to delight and inspire children who are bedridden, turning a difficult time into what it should be…a childhood.
Art Buddy is a program that teaches artists, writers and graphic designers how to engage and work with youth in their own neighborhoods through the healing power of art. We regularly train volunteers from other nonprofit programs how to add creative expression to their toolbox. Art with Heart offers monthly training workshops in Seattle, but for those outside the program area, our manual (coming in 2008) will teach unique ways to use your talent to give back and positively impact youth in your own area, engaging youth in a structured journey of discovery.

Art with Heart’s upcoming Sibling Projectwill help meet the emotional needs of siblings of the seriously ill and disabled. We are working with professionals from the Dougy Center, Children’s Hospital, Providence Hospice’s Safe Crossings, Camp Erin and others to help make this a meaningful resource for this special population. Publication date: Spring 2008.
