As a Seattle-based non-profit, Art with Heart has been deeply touched by yesterday’s tragic shootings that cost our community five lives and shook the soul of the city. Our heart goes out to the family and friends of all that were touched by this horrible event. The assumed killer who ended his own life after the spree was allegedly mentally ill.
Working on the front lines with youth that have experienced trauma, mental health issues, or are at risk of developing mental illness, Art with Heart knows it is vital to address mental health needs. For over 16 years Art with Heart has improved the mental health and well-being of high-risk youth through our therapeutic books, programs and trainings. Children do often not get the mental health services they need. Art with Heart fills the void by providing tools that help bridge this gap. Supporters like you help us pave the way for youth to have success in school and in life.
We are hopeful that as a community we can heal, grieve and express our feelings in a healthy way over this tragedy. We will continue to diligently emphasize the importance of addressing early intervention mental health needs through creative expression.
