ART WITH HEART’S LEADERSHIP

The staff, leaders, volunteers, and Board of Directors of Art with Heart consist of a wide variety of professionals who possess a wide variety of expertise in areas that are effective in fulfilling the mission.

ART WITH HEART STAFF

  • Founder/Executive Director Steffanie Lorig left her successful and award-winning design career to become the founding director of Art with Heart in order to focus her talents and heart on helping children in crisis. Before doing this, she enjoyed designing for clients such as Microsoft, Children’s Hospital of Orange County, Harcourt, Nordstrom’s and others. She is the visionary and author or co-author of Art with Heart’s therapeutic books for kids: Oodles of Doodles, Chill & Spill, Magnificent Marvelous Me, and Ink About It . She co-wrote a children’s picture book with her husband entitled Such a Silly Baby (Chronicle). She enjoys bettering the world – one child at a time.
  • Director of Fundraising & Events, Gabe Meyer joined Art with Heart in March 2011 after a time as an independent event planner and fundraiser. Previously, he held the position of Director of Membership, Outreach, and Special Events at the World Affairs Council.  Gabe is active in local, national, and international politics with experience on political campaigns and as board chair for a local good governance organization. Gabe joined Art with Heart because he enjoys bringing people together to strengthen an organization doing such meaningful work. His outgoing and positive nature makes him ideal for leading Art with Heart’s community engagement activities.
  • Program Manager, Nancy Stillger, holds a BA in Economics from Scripps College and a MA in Urban Planning from the University of California at Los Angeles. Nancy was the recipient of an Arts Administration Fellowship with the National Endowment for the Arts. She has over twenty years of experience in non-profit administration. She believes strongly that art can transform lives. Nancy enjoys spending time with her family and dogs, hiking and gardening.
  • Business Development Manager, Drew Leuthold, joined the Art with Heart family in August of 2011.   Drew has a BBA from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. After relocating the beautiful Pacific Northwest, Drew worked in healthcare staffing and home healthcare. He loves the idea of working with a team that shares the enthusiasm of helping children who need it most. He looks forward to assisting in getting Art with Heart books into the hands and lives of as many kids as possible who can enjoy and learn from them. Drew enjoys music, watching and participating in sports activities, and spending time with family and friends.
  • Contract Trainer, Annie McCall, MA, LMHC, received her Master’s degree in psychology from New York University in 2000. She joined Art with Heart as a Trainer in 2005, teaching school counselors how to use Chill & Spill in group settings and as a tool for managing school crisis. She also provides training and ongoing support for volunteer artists in the Art Buddy program. She is a contributor to the Chill & Spill Therapist’s Companion, and co-author of the Ink About It. Annie has a private practice providing one-on-one and group treatment to adolescents, adults, and families. She specializes in Dialectical Behavior Therapy and treatment of self-harm and suicidal behavior, and is co-founder of Youth and Family DBT of Seattle. She is also a research therapist at the University of Washington, working with suicidal and heroin-addicted clients.
